To relate the spectra to SOC content, stepwise and PLS regression were applied to each pretreatment. Each model was ranked according to its SEP. Stepwise regressions yielded generally good SEC but SEP were not good enough to produce reasonable predictions results not shown ; . The high SEPs were probably due to colinearity and overfitting. These problems were fixed by the standard PLS procedure since the full spectrum is used in the calibration phase. The area is prepped and draped. A skin marker is utilized to outline a rectangular excision from the superior helix. The marker is then used to design a posterior helical-conchal flap by extending two lines vertically down the posterior aspect of the ear. Two burrows triangles are then drawn at the base of the flap. This is the first study which directly measures binding to adrenoceptors in warm- and cold-acclimated frogs and demonstrates that a1-, a2-, and b-adrenoceptors are present in frog tissues from warm- and cold-acclimated animals. Other binding studies of frog myocardial b-adrenoceptors did not assess the effect of acclimation state on receptor binding Hancock et al., 1979, Port et al., 1992 ; . The data obtained in the present study show that there were no significant differences in the numbers of a1-, a2-, or b-adrenoceptors in warmas compared to cold-acclimated frogs in atrium, ventricle, and kidney membranes. The present study found no evidence for an exchange of b-adrenoceptors in warm-acclimated frogs for a-adrenoceptors in cold-acclimated frogs. Several hypotheses have been proposed for explaining the varying responsiveness of frog heart adrenoceptors at warm and cold temperatures.
